True to its history as a centre of trade, Singapore is home to the busiest sea port in the world. It is an island nation, but is also connected to Malaysia by several modern bridges. The cuisine of Singapore is also varied thanks to its cultural diversity, with many fine restaurants serving many different kinds of food. Along the eastern coast of the country you will find a wonderful array of seafood choices, while in Kampong Glam you will find traditional Malaysian and Arabian cuisine. And of course, the Chinatown and Little India areas are famous for serving authentic foods from their respective countries.
If shopping is your passion then Singapore is your little slice of heaven. Be sure to spend time along Orchard Road, where you will find a dense concentration of stores, shops, boutiques, and the like. Getting to Singapore is easiest and most convenient by air, primarily via Changi International Airport. This is an extremely large and busy complex, so allow plenty of time to get through the crowds and find your terminal/gate. Getting into Singapore from the airport is possible via subway, taxi, shuttle, and the like. Check with your hotel in advance because many of the larger properties offer complimentary or deeply discounted transportation options for their guests.
